IN REMEMBRANCE

It is with the deepest regret that I have to inform Members that John O’Connell, the immediate past Chief Executive and Life Member of the Club has passed away.

John originally started work at the Club back in September 1955 as a clerk and was then promoted to the position of Assistant Secretary in 1970, before achieving the ultimate prize when he was made the Chief Executive in 1979 before retiring in 1989.

He was a passionate supporter of Rugby League for many years and greatly assisted the Australia Rugby League on numerous occasions in hosting the British Lions on their many tours to Australia during his time at the Club.

John will be sorely missed by those that knew him well, and his passing is a great loss to us all and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time

Chris Bowden
